Just got this old Torpado this September. As if I need another project...

Nothing special and needs "everything", but it's the only yellow bike I have at present.

I picked up a yellow Reynolds 531 Libertas a while back fully intending to rehab it and build it up. It's been sitting in the basement for the past few years. I just moved the bike to my workshop as I'll get to work on it this fall. This is a picture of the bike as found in the "wild." My goal is a sympathetic build with European parts that I have on hand.

These are good local riders and it looks to have a Sturmey-Archer 3 speed hub. I know we say it way too much here that it becomes a running gag, however, in the picture the fork looks slightly bent. It could be that the fork is just turned a little to the side, it could be me or it could be a little out of alignment. When I worked in a Schwinn dealership we would straighten out a bent forged fork like that by either using a jack and pushing the fork forward with the other end of the jack on the bottom bracket or the more violent method of removing the fender turning the fork the opposite way and rolling the bike into a wall. Either technique worked well for a small bend like this.

Ha ha, nice spot. Im also a tennis player and that is a vintage Italian bike stand which I restored recently and posted about. The racket I use for shadow swinging like a cyclist would use of roller, for warming up.

What a great collection of yellow bikes !!! ......and a LOT of what, to me, are "exotics" in that the names are totally foreign (no pun intended) to me.
So here's my contribution "as found" and looking rather sorry for itself.....a 1971 Schwinn Super Sport.......but it's now in my garage undergoing a complete overhaul..........and it's my size !!....and I even have an early Shimano Eagle rear der to replace the TOTALLY wrong one you see in the pic.

I remember the yellow Schwinns well.
My first decent road bike was a yellow 1971 American Eagle [Nishiki] Semi-Pro [Competition]. I must have put about 40K miles (65k km) on it over 20 years of ownership, until the frame broke.

My annual Cannondale pic
Same as last year. My 1985 Cannondale SM 600 with the 24"/26" wheels. I built it back in 1984 when I worked in a bike shop on Long Island NY.
Made some changes: Bullseye cranks, SR Litage aluminum fork, Pedersen SE front brake, Kestrel steaight carbon bars - zero rise, zero sweep, etc.
Rides great. I'm trying to find matching slick or close to slick tires. 24 and 26 inch with tan walls. I see SE racing Cub, but they're a little wide. Any suggestions?

As of a few weeks ago no longer mine but close enough. Yes, it was VERY heavy.
Recently unloaded to a co-worker for his girlfriend to ride around their neighborhood. Quite nice condition and I sold it for FAR LESS $$ than I had in it. Functioning Shimano 333 hub!
