I'm taking a magnesium & electrolyte (K/Na) fortified carb drink during the workout so cramps aren't happening anymore.
Just today I did a very slow circuit of front squats - stiff-legged DLs (more like Romanians actually) - db presses (PR'd on them: 17kg dbs x 15 reps!) and BB BOR (UH Yates style).
I'm back to doing a full body routine and noticed that when I did squats+SLDLs I'd be too wiped out to give enough attention to presses & BORs , so that's why I did a giant set of them..
It's funny to be doing full body again.. Also quite funny to be doing high rep workouts again after having focused on absolute strength for so long. Endurance really took a nosedive.
But it's also coming back again pretty well.
@ late: this is what I'm probably going to do. Im just a bit embarassed to have let my bicycle get in such a sorry state. I'd stored it in my single rooom (BR+kitcen+living room) student apartment before and somehow while I now live in a 'real' house, there seems less space for putting a bicycle inside than before. The bike shed is utter crap as it simply is too humid.
Unless I once again put it in the hallway where already 2 bicycles are put up underneath the stairs (me & SO both have a Brompton.. once had 3 bikes in 1 room: a Brompton, a British folding roadbike & the touring bike).
If I ever get a bike trainer again that would also need to be set up in the living room, which probably means removing some other crap like a couch.. who needs a couch
What I really like about using the indoor cardio equipment is the reliable feedback from it.. you can plug the data in the pc and analyse everything. That's just very appealing to someone with an OCD personality.
Outside there's a ton of variables and things you can't control which either make or break your (training) ride . Not bad if you have to be out (functional) or are cycling for leisure (holiday, weekend ride), but frustrating when you are a control freak. See?

I've lifted quite a bit since age 13. I've always loved it. Lately, not so much, but I still enjoy it. I have found that doing a lot of lower body powerlifting has really helped the cycling aspect.

I ride because I enjoy it and I love to race. I know my health is not at its peak in the middle of the season but I don't really care. I'm still healthier than the average beer swilling college student. For the record, I do not swill beer.

I believe that building leg strength is an absolute must, but you will still have to work on endurance so you I believe that weight lifting will compliment cycling, as to me you can never have too much leg strength. I was in excellent shape when I was younger and 30 miles on a mountain bike was nothing to me. I used to smoke the average 10 speed rider, not the hard core riders though.
