Power records

I am looking for a listing of wattage records. I was wanting to know who has recorded the highest 1 minute, 2 minute, 5 minute etc....wattage outputs and what those numbers were. Has anyone seen such a list?

the fascination of raw wattage without the context of weight is consistently amusing to me.

Records are records. Boardman Holds the 1 hour record for instance. Not the one hour record for guys his size.

And how relevent weight is, depends on the context of what you're looking at.

Power to Weight ratio is obviously extremely important if we're talking climbing.

However if we're talking a flat TT, then raw power, or more importantly Power to Frontal Area becomes the more significant measure, and weight's not nearly as big of factor.

And while weight matters in things like sprinting, raw power matters more, which explains while my fat ass, with its poor power to weight ratio, can still win a sprint occassionally.

Minor nitpick: Ondrej Sosenka broke Boardman's 1 hour record in 2005.

i got an email from a friend today.

he's not one to brag (anything but), nor is he a watt weenie.

what he is, is a training beast, who's been using a SRM for the past 5 years.

apparently, this is pretty close to what he does. https://www.velonews.com/article/7296...ace-intensity-

Hmmmm, so he used a heavy 7lb wheel for a flywheel effect to help keep his leg speed up. Very smart. I wonder when they'll mandate rear wheel weights. Maybe i should experiement with lead weights on my rims to see if it'll help with 40k tt times. Our TT is board flat. 10 feet of elevation gain over the whole 25 miles.

The reason I was asking was this. I was having a conversation with a guy yesterday (fellow BF member) who stated to me that some track guy can put down 1,000 watts for ten minutes. I called BS but .......I guess maybe it is possible....But I am still calling BS until I see proof.

Of course "anything is possible" however I have to call BS on that one.

Yep. The extra heavy wheels are the most interesting part of Sosenka's story imo.

Here's a relative chart. And no, I don't beleive anyone holds 1000w for 10 minutes, but I've been wrong before.

Uh, Millar ran ~500W for his ToC prologue (less than 10 minutes, that's for sure).

Whoever said that is a moron (sorry!).

I can safely say you are correct in this debate with out referencing any record books.

I seem to remember Cancellara as having just over 500w for his prolouge too, and he's a big guy.

I remember a guy flying around PP at 400W. He didn't make a lot of friends here.
