Am I gonna die?

Ok, so I kinda hit a pothole... Now the frame is bent.
Font wheel got PWNT, the fork appears flawless.

Note: there's a hole to route brake cable in the top tube, so this one looks worse then it really is.

Is this thing gonna fail on me?

Yes, you are going to die.

I don't know if it will be while riding that bike though. If I were a betting man, I would wager that riding that bike will eventually result in a crash as a result of frame failure. Bike crashes normally aren't fatal though, so I think the chances of being killed while riding that bike are relatively small.

if you are wearing a helmet (CPSC-certified) your chances of dying will be lessened.

Since the impact crimped both the top tube and downtube I expect changed the headtube angle and/or alignment somewhat so the handling might be rather "different". Also, how about a LOT of toe overlap.

It's probably not going to kill you anytime soon but I'd advise against riding it much.

I'm not sure I'd have ridden it before the crash.

We will all die. You will die of tetanus if you ride that bike.

If hitting a pothole is enough to bend your frame it is time to say goodbye

I would proudly ride that bike. Milk crate, clown car wheel, and all. It has character. Of course I'd wear a football helmet, and full pads, but that's just me.

The increased steering trail might help counteract the effect of the milk crate and contents on the stability

There is no way the fork is not damaged. I'll bet the welded joint between the steerer tube and fork crown is cracked. I've had that fail on a cheap bike, not a fun event.
Toss that pos, and get another pos.

Again with the bombs. How about explaining this apparent outrageousness?

Or do you mean it won't keep you from dying in the long term? But that would have called for a winkie...

Well, Voldemort had it all set up but got his in the end (sorry for the spoiler - but surely ya saw that coming).

We'll have to wait and see about Dick Cheney.......

I can't say in good conscience that that jalopy is safe, but I have seen people ride stuff like that for months on end and live to tell about it.

Hmm, 4:1 thinks this frame will fail. allright.

The rust is nowhere close to affecting structural integrity, as a bonus it serves as a theft deterrent.

I don't know the appropriate english term for the road irregularity I hit, it was a hole in the street's pavement. ~2.5m long and ~0.5m deep, with a steep part just before the exit (from my direction). I just couldn't hop over it.

Toe overlap used to be a non-issue, now it's mildly annoying. Say if I move my feet forwards on the pedals, my toes will hit the fenders. Handing is better overall (the bike has a sticker that proudly proclaims "Sears" on it...) except it tends to lean slightly to one side.

PWNT = owned = tango neutralized = someone dragging you by the balls while you're handcuffed behind your back with a bag attached around your head. Something like that.

No front brake is part of the reasons why I hit the pothole, asides from being an idiot, I'm not used to the dynamics of rear wheel only for braking. I essentially took a turn while spinning at a good cadence in top gear, too fast apparently.

The steering geometry adjustment made handling surprisingly better, this bike can now be ridden with no hands where it was as evil as a recumbent before. It's much less tiring to ride.

Fork appears flawless. "Toss that pos, and get another pos." Kinda what I'm thinking, but it pisses me off to again get all the parts off this bike, onto some other frame. That would be the third time for this bike, I mean what a PITA. I was hoping someone would say, you know this bike is steel so whatever you can keep riding it etc.

Well, I take offence to the bike being called a jalopy, everything works and is dialed in on it, nothing rattles or rubs, all bearings are freshly packed and adjusted properly...
