John Edwards and Lance Armstrong at Ride Across Iowa
Edwards joins Armstrong on ride across Iowa
Clad in a blue RAGBRAI jersey fit for a photo-op with Armstrong, Edwards turned to a group selling pork chops on a stick. He did a turn over the grill, joined later by wife Elizabeth.
When someone suggested the former North Carolina senator would look better with a beer in his hand, but then thought it might not look politically correct for the cameras, Edwards quickly corrected him.
"If any of these people don't think I drink a beer every once in a while, they would be wrong," Edwards said.
Edwards has been a consistent supporter of cancer-survivor Armstrong's Livestrong foundation, an ever-present yellow rubber bracelet on his left wrist. With his wife's cancer diagnosis, Edwards' bond with Armstrong and his efforts have grown stronger.
"Lance is a friend of ours," Edwards said. "We've known him for awhile and went down and spoke at the Livestrong foundation annual event and I've spent a fair amount of time with Lance."

would you not know it'd be in Iowa? Maybe next to New Hampshire? Edwards rides up White Mountain, I will be impressed. However, Edwards should have been wearing a Livestrong jersey. Ragbai jersey probably scores more points tho with Iowa voters? Anyone see if Edwards owns a decent bike? Ah, Edwards is no pro cyclist. He does not ride Clipless. Probably his handlers told him clippless is not the right kind of impression for voters.

He had to wear the pants over the lycra? What's with the $x,xxx bike and gym shoes?
Did lance buy that bus in the last picture, or did our donations buy it?
At least the livestrong jerseys look cool...

Edwards looks a little out of place on the bike though. Needs a larger bike and lose the tennis shoes and raise the seat.

edwards is a jogger? I don't think you will see any politican in outright lycra. Kerry, Bush, Edwards. Too many Americans think cyclists freaks. Their handlers won't allow it.

I get the feeling that the Livestrong Foundation has a truckload of these Madones for just these purposes.

Lance is looking good, but I agree Edwards looks a bit out of place, who would have thought Kerry was the better roadie..

wonder what kind of average speed Edwards kept. we pray it won't happen. But, should Lance be found guilty of doping in his pro days, Edwards will have every photo destroyed that he can get his hands on.
