Whooo!!! night ride!!! We got out on the road at 9:30. YES, I did wear a helmet. How couldn't I? We did a nice 10 mile ride, roughly, and all I can say is.... night riding is seriously one of the coolest things I've done. We both we're raving about how cool it was the whole time. The best part is the fact it's just... quiet. It's so cool you are instantly cooled down. My friend had a nice light that easily shined 40 feet off, mine.... yea it was crappy. We made due, put some flashers on my bike and he took lead. Quite a few almost bails, but we made it.
Preride fake smile.
I swear it's impossible to get a decent picture at night.
We made it to some switch backs. Right over this hill there are these huge bumps that almost belt you off the bike. We just stood up and let our knees take the shock.
We found out our road bikes were rideable on semi rocky terrain. My bike fell right into the sand, I still need to clean the grains of sand out of the shifters.
Made it to the beach and lit some of our fireworks.
Happy riders posing at 11pm. *yawn*

It is. We both were joking how my bikes are always bigger than his, and how mine fit him better. My mtb and roadie are more his size. He's 4 inches taller than me.

My friends bike, and Siu's bike both make a clicky nose while pedaling, my bike makes absolutely no noise and I'm not sure why. Either way silent or not, with how loud we were talking It wasn't silent for long.

OH I forgot, while we were riding, I guess we pissed off a driver by being in the road. The lane was easily 10+ feet wide, he floors his gas acting all crazy and literally comes within 2 feet of clipping my friend, I kid you not. The draft of the car speeding up almost knocked him off the bike. The idiot had easily 6 feet extra space on the left side of the road, and he chooses to come that close to us. It freaked me out, because I saw how close the car came. Now I understand the crap roadbikers have to deal with.

Sounds like your typical yahoo- you do get used to it, though. Just don't give in to the impulse to indulge in a rage-like behavior- that nearly always ends badly.

While night riding is fun, remember you're sharing the road w/ boozers, jackasses and hormone fueled kids who think they're infallible. Be visible and when you catch up to these JAMs, just pretend you took a pic of their license plate and that you're calling the police to report a drunk driver.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.
