Clyde's/Athena's Seeking Ride Buddies

OK, to start it off:

Here's the deal, Post your location, average pace, and miles you like to ride.

Hopefully, it'll hook a few of us up with a ride partner to keep us motivated and of close enough to similar abilities and taste in rides that it works!

ps: Let's not turn this thread into a dating site!

My Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Pace:I'm good anywhere between 13 and 8 mph Average
Distances: Long, 50-150, with the eventual goal of a double century.

Edit: Jut another though, if you see a good match, use PM to make a contact to keep the thread a list of locations and preferences. Not required of course, but it'll make it easier to scroll the list.

Additional Edit: I have a spreadsheet by region at this location:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...z3kcfRFw&hl=en

I know you're all sexy and stuff now Tom, but I couldn't do that to Mrs. Stormcrowe!

Anyway...

Location: NYC (but would be willing to go anywhere MetroNorth, NJ Transit, or LIRR goes)
Average Pace: Loaded question. My computer says about 13, but I tend to waver between 15-18 with bursts above 20. The traffic stops really kill averages!
Miles: 20+, usually at least 30.

HMMM maybe we should all move to Costa Rica.

Wow Katrina was a terrible storm... Lafayette was pushed from Louisiana all the way to Indiana....at least it is still in a state that ends in iana.

Guess we're lucky to be in So California. This is the ride we did on Saturday. Another ride in a week or two. About 40 riders and maybe 90% are BF'ers. Ronjon may be somewhere in there too. I'm in the yellow.

Not to mention that I have ridden with another forum dude Hillbasher a few times. Happened to run into him climbing up the mtns. He lives local and we're both clydeboys!

Okay, thanks for the invitation to post here Tom. I'm a bit embarassed to say the following, but you never know ...

Location: NorthWest Suburbs of Chicago
Pace: very slow .. 4-6 mph
Distance: 3-6 miles working toward 10

I'm new to the forum and new to *serious* biking.

Please think kind thoughts -- I give myself enough of a hard time already

Welcome Mirysien - my first ride after a 6 year break was 3 miles and I was thrilled. Mile by mile is the ticket!

Hey...you're on the bike!!! Congrats!! That's awesome. Just keep with it. Soon enough, you'll be doing centuries.

My first ride after a 10-year layoff was about 6-7 miles. Took awhile but I worked up to 10, then 20, then 40...you get the idea

Don't be embarassed. We all started somewhere. Just keep at it and you'll be riding big miles in no time.

That's good that you are posting though. Riding with someone with a higher skill level will make you push yourself a little more and give you a pace that gives you a workout.
