Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got My New Shoes Today

Finally, I went to town for some new shoes. Went to former Tour De France pro cyclist, Jostein Wilmann's shop, and tried on a couple of shoes, including Shimano r215b, Northwave Aerator and the Specialized S-Works DG Boa shoes.
The Northwaves didn't impress me at all, were way too tight, the Shimanos felt to much like my old ones, but the Specialized felt really like they were made for me. The boa system is perfect for my ankle, since it's rather tall. It was also the most comfortable of them all too.

Took them for a spin on the trainer today too, and they really were something different than my old Shimanos. Stiffness was really, really good, and it kept comfortable the whole time. Didn't experience any pain at all! The boa system is a great system, very easy to adjust to proper tension. Really a breeze to wear. Those body geometry things really work out well.

Pics!

How much, if you don't mind me asking? Did they have other colors besides white?

I don't know what that link was supposed to show me, but whatever it was, it failed miserably.

1. I'm lazy
2. I only have a modicum of interest in what Specialized says they should cost.

What on earth have you been doing to your cleats**********???

The S-works shoes are super-slick. I have a pair of the pro carbon road shoes... some of the most comfy shoes I own, period.

Honestly, I think the value is some of the best around if you compare them to Sidis, while the comfort is just the same, maybe better.

Specialized needs to work on their quality control. The first set of these that I got, the dial on the rightside was inoperative - the shoes could not be tightened. The replacement pair that I received had a slipping right dial, but it closes the shoes. I wanted them to race in our state championships, so I did not bring them back. I think they are super shoes other than the aforementioned comments.
