the portland thread.
for a bit, some of us on here have talked about making a portland thread like some of the other cities have...it'd be a good way to coordinate group rides, meet other people in the area to hang out with, ride with, drink with; a good way to spread the word about races, events, whatever. just a place where those of us from portland--regular and semi-regular posters and lurkers alike--could post that crap, keep in touch, find stuff to do, people to meet, etc. and perhaps someplace for visitors to come and find stuff to do while in town and peeps to ride with.
so...so far i've nothing to add. no rides, no races. so...money permitting, anyone wanna drink and ride, say...saturday night?

Bravo my good man.
A step in the right direction.
If I had any money to spare,
I'd take a month off of work,
bike from DC to Portland,
and buy you a drink.
In the mean time,
I hope someone from your own zip code can instead.

Well I'm moving back tomorrow, so this is fortuitously relevant.
I'd be down for some daylight riding sometime, although I'm such a poser, my fixed is in pieces and I haven't ridden anything but my geary all summer. Oh well.

I've been gone since may, I'm 21 now so bars are a-okay. I've been at home working as a "landscape installation artist" aka manual labor grunt for a small company doing fancy installations for fancy peoples fancy second homes. Back to school on the 5th.

Four more months then I join the real world... and move up north there. I have a job (probably) and need to start looking for a room. I wish I had some free time to come up early some Saturday, we should go hit up Alpenrose for a few laps then beer.

damn, son, that would be some good times. i'll promise next time you're up here i won't ditch out like i did before. i feel bad about that, but you know the circumstances....(i.e., girl, you were with josh, etc)
but yeah, that sounds like fun. i was meaning to write you the other day, but i felt lazy. let me know when you're coming back.
everyone coming into town...you'll like it.

sweet, thurston who i'm sure i've met though i don't recall when or where and neither do you.
zero, i was with josh that day. but he started feeding me whiskey before i'd eaten anything and i took a nap in a friend's yard...when i woke up, he was gone. apparently skidding his bike off a pier into the murky, oh-so-disgusting-and-germ-filled waters of the willamette.

you know what? let's get something for next weekend, going out to alpenrose for a few, and then coming into town for a few more (of the liquid variety--even though i know you won't partake, tehz). how's saturday the 9th? what time? how long to stay? who knows how to get there (i sadly don't)? where to have the brews afterward? let's pull the inaugural event of this thread together!

'drome location on google maps. I've never ridden to there from downtown, just driven to from the south. We can always just roll around downtown if nothing else. I can probably make it the 9th.

I wanna go to Portland, and get real lifted off in the woods. A bonfire with brew & womenfolk. Hook that ish up, Ian.

ahh, now there's a project. if it's in the winter, it'll be a black metal weekend. if it's in the summer, there'll have to be a more upbeat theme.
