August 26-27, Kissena Velodrome NYC: You Are Invited!
This is the third and final leg of the Velo City Tour 2006. We raced in Los Angeles in June, Chicago in July and now me and my crew are turning it out on our home turf!
I am talking about two days of training and racing your track legal bike at Kissena Velodrome. This is a FREE event.
If you have zero track experience, it's time to learn.
All levels and styles are welcome, bring the kids! We are working on a DJ and some Food for Sunday(No Promises!).
Check out the schedule here:
https://cyclehawk.com/velocity/nycschedule.php
Saturday is individual time trials and matched sprints. Tons of fun and a good chance to warm up.
Saturday Nite is Gold Sprints in Brooklyn, come on out to challenge Felipe and the clock. Or just drink beer and yell at your friends as they kill it for 500 meters.
Sunday is more pack racing and team events (teams of three). Also Awards and more!
There will be group rides and alleycats this weekend as well.
If you have a minute, register on line and post a picture:
https://cyclehawk.com/velocity/
If you are currently employed as a bicycle messenger take a shot at r/t airfare to Sydney, Australia for the 14th Annual Cycle Messenger World Championships- https://www.sydbma.org/
Hope to see you there!!

Everyone should try and get out to Kissena for this.
LA was a blast, and Chicago kept the spirit alive too!!!!
Want a great intro to track racing? Check this event out! Track racing, goldsprints, hanging out...
Anyone close to Kissena (or not!) that has always been interested in riding the velo needs to get out there. The event is awesome. The races are some of the best kinds AND they are varied! The level of instruction was great too!
I am hoping this circles back around the US next year!

I would love to go, but the date is just too close to my moving date so if I do go it will be a last minute decision. The only way I could justify it is if I'm more than half way packed by then.
Oh by the way 165, we should get together in chicago once I move in. It'll be about the 2nd of september.

I HATE australian pursuits because I always get stuck right infront of the fastest dude on the track. I'm more looking forward to the Chariot races than anything else... I have a pretty mean jump.
Oh and thank god the men aren't doing win and out... hahah last time I did one of those I was beaten by less than a wheel on the first 3 sprints.

Feel free to race in your underwear if necessary! Hugo does it all the time.

Not sure where you got the forecast from, here is what I found for Fresh Meadows, NY 11365:

It rained on day two in Chicago, only kept us off the track for about an hour.

Nothing extraneous should be on the bike (brakes, lights, reflectors, etc.).

I saw a Catlike in world championship stripes for 25 bucks at the T-town swap last year, but didn't realize they were so rare in the states. It was gone on my next lap around the infield; oops!
