Thunder thighs (this one's for you dolface) and Alta Bikes

First, a photo.

And now, the bikemaker, Alta. https://www.altabikes.no/

Looks like a Langster meets a Steamroller (stays). And actually looks geared towards a more urban rider with it's bullhorns, etc.

I like the colours though.

That's a regular wall rack. You should be able to get those at The Container Store or some similar organizational type store.

the colors are nice (the guy's legs are freakish), but i hate pretty much everything else about that bike, especially the chainstays and fork.

About the wall hanger - I have one that my girlfriend found at targte or something. it's actually meant to hold a hose but works perfectly for bikes.

I don't have room in my apt right now to hang it though

"The Alta is developed by Bleed (graphic designers), Norway Says (furniture designers), Frost Produkt (product design), and Shnel&Melnychuck(advertising agency)

Too many cooks in the kitchen, and not enough of them actually involved in knowing what a good bicycle is and/or building it.

the wall mount comes with the bike

i think the bike is nice, personally.. it seems geared more towards a stylish, practical... thing.. kinda like the muji bikes in japan... the price i guess would make all the difference..

i usually hate those brake levers more then anything.. and on those flat bulls they dont bug me so much..

the wall rack is a nice touch though

im curious what to you makes this not a good bicycle? except that you think its ugly..for the commuter that doesnt want to fix their bike.. it seems pretty solid to me...do tell.

the welds are ugly, the track ends are ugly, the stays are ugly, the cranks are ugly (4holes?!). the only thing nice about the bike is the color, green and white, i can't believe it's not even fixed!

that green hunk of steel is not a bike it's some designer's orgasmic fantasy gone bad.

ah, now i see. i was assuming it was just a cheap heavy steel frame. but they list the frame specs (i missed them the first time around)

1290 gram RR-3 Ultralight R-6 custom aluminum

now i'm confused as well

They *claim* that the frame is 1290 g, although that seems suspect. I'm guessing there is plenty of additional pork in the components as well. With its brakes, slightly fatter tires, and all the other schlock on that bike, it's not hard to get to 20 lbs. My Steamroller (of similar spec) is around 19 lbs these days, and that's with Ritchey WCS post/stem/headset, SLR saddle, and an EC90 carbon fork. Oink oink.

If you guys are really hung up on the weight, I can give you the breakdown of how much each piece of my Steamroller weighs, which will easily extrapolate to the weight of the Alta.

a single bike rack from mec.ca only 15 canuck bucks! ...mec is like a canadian rei for all you non-hosers. however, it only seems to hold your bike vertically.
