I love my Granny!
I love my Granny!
She comforts me when things get tough.
She tells me it will be alright
When I think I've had enough.
The other boys say that they don't,
They never visit Granny.
But when she feels lonely
I drop down and plant my fanny.
I don't care what people think
About my frequent calls;
She lives right there on yonder hill
She's strong, yet very small!
She comforts me when things get tough.
She tells me it will be alright
When I think I've had enough.
The other boys say that they don't,
They never visit Granny.
But when she feels lonely
I drop down and plant my fanny.
I don't care what people think
About my frequent calls;
She lives right there on yonder hill
She's strong, yet very small!

With just 2 chain rings,
No Granny here!
13x23 freewheel,
So no low gear!
First you grind,
and sweat and curse.
Then you train,
and hope it can't get worse!
Pretty soon, you can
Make your cadence sing,
But you still look with envy
at those with the third chain ring!

I know I love my granny gear. I'd be an Aspercreme junkie without her...

Every lane is a bike lane
I don't often use my granny gear, but I'm just glad it's there. There is a 22% climb around here where I use it, but apart from that, it usually just sits there looking spanky. However, as I said, I just like to know it's there.

Granny's there waitin for me for the uphill half of the ride home form work. The slow daydreamin' life ponderin' ride to the top of the hill.
Then I have to bid granny a fond farewell and switch to higher gears and let the rush of wind build in my ears and the tears well in my eyes as I accelerate to unsafe speeds on the downhill "urban trail" which eventually dumps me out just a block from my house.
But , no matter what, Granny is absolutely important. If you have enough patience, granny would take you to the moon!

I love granny too. When the going gets tough and everything is out to get you.....Shes right there, just one or two clicks away.

I damaged my knees humping a loaded, faired recumbent over The Grapeview(see I-5 in CA). Since then every bike I get has a granny. One even had a 18 front, 38 rear for riding in snow in Denver.

You are all wussies, monsieurs
and without granny hills y'all fear
I escape the artifice of the derraileur
and I grind along, or walk, on my fixed gear

When I began biking to work
I kind of felt like a jerk
but I learned to love my granny
and up the big hill went my fanny
then I got stronger--what's the rub?
now I have an internal gear hub

I haven't used my granny gear in years. That's cuz my front derailleur refuses to shift to it.

I used to climb hills with fear
and drop to my low in the rear
and on I would grunt
shift down in the front
but now I just ride my fixed gear!
