Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The RS is definitely the SL version of the AKFM03, so I'd guess the new ZX3 will be too, since they say the weight is the same. But I don't have any more info than you do. Pedalforce was pretty mum about the details with the RS groupbuy -- they wouldn't even confirm that the frame was from ADK, even after a BFer got his frames with an ADK sticker attached ...

I asked PF about the weave on the bike... its 3K. So I'm also hoping its the SL given the stance they are taking on having better carbon specs than their competitors. I'm a clyde, so I want the best frame I can buy at a price that won't have wifey screaming. Plus, she's always telling me to buy quality stuff and not worry so much about the price. Its her justification for the $$$$ purses and clothes that keep mysteriously showing up.

I won't be deterred by the FUD in the other group buy thread, as its just WRONG. While I applaud the prices, being suspect about specs and your competition just doesn't cut it for me. I want more information, not less, when making a significant purchase.

Let me ask a dumb question: What's the difference between a 3K weave and a 12K weave and whatever else kind of weave? Why is one more desirable than another?

Thanks for the answers/pics! I've never seen 12K weave before. Interesting.

More examples of 12K. I find it pretty heinous looking personally.

Looks a little like laminated electrical tape with a clearcoat over the top of it.

53 if you like a longer reach; 50 if you don't.

Funny. I would have said a 55cm frame as he has shorter legs and what seems like a longer torso/arms. I am 5' 7" with the same insem as him and I am getting a 53cm frame with a 120 mm stem and 38" handlebars

50cm would be way too small. 53cm would be more fitting.

If he has short legs then a 55 would have zero standover clearance and put him in a near Superman aero position. He would have about 3 inches of seat post showing and likely no drop at all.

I'm 5'8 with short legs and this is my 53cm Pedal Force with a 13cm stem.

Very nice looking, Dubbayoo.

I'm going with the 61. It's essentially the only choice for me: 6' 4", 37" inseam. The 58 cm would have a lot of seatpost showing, and the top tube would be a bit short for my taste (my current LeMond has a 59.3 cm top tube, so the PF 61 cm is comparable).

Can't wait to build it up. I'm cobbling together parts and whatnot (gotta be very frugal, and there will be very little carried over from the LeMond as it'll be my bike that lives in Connecticut, at the in-laws' place), and it should be a lot of fun to ride.

Hey Dubbayoo, how'd you do you the custom lettering job? I'm guessing that's you're name, and its exactly what I want to do on mine too. Altho I was thinking of going all out and plastering huge naming on the downtube like cervelo to deter thieves.

I would actually go with a smaller cursive font next time. It's a bit too obvious when you're right up on it, but then I'm not one to get any joy of seeing my name plastered on stuff.

True, I'll have to make the final decision when i get the frame whether to go big or small. But did you just spray paint it? or did you do something else? And if you did, did you do a coat of clear?

I am getting a 50cm for a friend. She is 5'3" with a 30" inseam. She rides a Giant OCR3 in small. I plan on sending her measurements to Pedal Force, but do you think this frame will fit her?

So should I get the fork that comes with it? My Airborne from which I am taking over the various parts from has a house-brand carbon fork marked Aileron on it and I have no idea how it would compare to the Pedalforce one. I kind of wish they had offered upgrade pricing on 3rd party forks...

It's a sticker I bought online; maybe Ebay.

They do. You can get the Easton EC90 for < $200; try pricing that at excelsports.com

On the group buy, my drop down only shows their house-brand fork. How do you get the Easton?

Go to products, custom configured bicycles, user configuration, and look through the drop down menus. Apparantly, PF is very competitive in pricing.

Your not gonna get that price buy buying a frame and fork alone. You need to build almost an entire bike from PF to get those prices.
