Stupid BMW
I almost got creamed by a dumbass in a BMW today.
I was coming around a corner and I see a car pull into a parking spot. I didn't hear any other cars (probably cause the first car is a LOUD Chevy truck) and suddenly BOOM and theres this blue BMW goin 30 mph in a 5 mph zone. I slam on my brakes (leaving a flat spot on the tire, mind you) and skid to a stop less than a foot away. The arsehole in the BWM just keeps going like nothing happened (except he goes faster). My friend saw everything (he was in the Chevy) so we looked for the BMW (to kick a dent in the door ) but we couldent find it. Notice I'm 13 years old.
If the BMW ever sees this, this is for you: FRUCK YOU!!!
I hate BMWs now

I once had a guy driving a BMW lecture me on how to make a left turn on a bike. "If you look in any bicycle manual" -- WTF is a "bicycle manual"? Anyway, the guy obviously hadn't been on a bike in 35 years nor had any clue what the law is in NJ. Oh and this was after, as you so eloquently put it, almost creaming me.

Steel toe boots are your friends. Muhahahaha... Seriously tho, I glad you're ok. I keep hearing a crap load of stories from people about crazy drivers that think they own the road (I find more the young teenager yahoos and the occasional senior folk that want to tap your rear tire). A 6 D/C maglite does more damage tho but try to keep it to lighting your path and as a last resort tool turned into a weapon.
Grr.. makes me want to punch that driver now. Video cam mate. Video cam. Get that on your helmet as soon as you can afford it. Budget now and who knows by Xmas you may be able to get a economical helmet vidcam while you read out the licence plate and hand it over to the cops hoping they will do something about it if thier hands are not tied down with ridding all the gangs, criminals and druggies.

I used to think BMW drivers were out to get me because I had been in so many near accidents with BMW drivers failing to yield, give right of way, signal for turns/check blind spots when merging - one guy in an X5 actually forced me into oncoming traffic. All of these events happened while driving a car, not while on a bicycle (thank God). I don't know what it is that attracts idiot drivers to BMWs.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I appreciate it. The driver was a mid 20s white collar dude. My helmet is so small my head barly fits in it now, and cops here in California are sh1t. No offence but you do NOTHING police people. As I was saying, he was going 30 mph in a 5 mph zone, so a camera would be pretty blurry. He just ZOOOOOOOM past. And yeah steel toe shoes out of style but anyone make fun of me or threatn me KABAM and they have a dent in their car or a broken leg or whatever.
Thanks again guys I feel better now.

I think it was steinbeck who said this (my apologies to rich bikers...you obviously have brains behind your money and are not part of the intended audience of this quote)
"God made the rich what they are because without money they wouldn't know how to survive."

I wish I didn't know how to survive so I could be rich.
As for the dopey driver, what do you expect when you've got a car designed for highways w/ no speed limits? 5mph? That's nothing.

Here in Latvia BMW drivers are well known to be the biggest pricks. Very agressive drivers love these cars. I try to steer clear of all BMWs, expereince has tought me this. Most of the encounters I've had with overly agressive drivers have been BMWs.
A few weeks ago one BMW driver even stopped in front of me blocking a very busy road, hopped out of his car and wanted to fight me. WTF? He was distracted by drinking something while driving and had to slam on his brakes not to run me down. Luckily I saw him flying toward me in my mirror and was prepared.
As my wife likes to say; BMW, it's not a car, it's a diagnosis.

BMWs are nice cars, but they do seem to have more than their fair share of jerks driving them.

Interesting. I own a BMW 521i but bike to work... so not all BMW drivers fit your profile. To be fair, every other car around here is a Mercedes or BMW-- and in Europe, it is almost easier to buy German cars than Asian cars... and no one here buys American. Back when I lived in the US, I would have had to agree with you--- that those who drove BMWs were the worst.
