20" sidecar

I need advice on how to build a sidecar bike for a 20" bicycle...I need to know the cheapest materials and the cheapest way to get them together. I am going to build on to a exsisting frame.

Thanks, Max

I have two questions: Do you have access to a welder? What is the purpose of the sidecar? Would it be used to haul a child,? or groceries, and such? Several ideas come to mind and would like to help.

Well I'm 13 years old so the sidecar would be based for me and my friend mostly. Sometimes I need to haul groceries, but very rarly. No I don't have access to a welder, but I think I know someone that has a welder so that is still in question. Thanks for replieng.

I would get a hold of another bike and cut the front off( from the seat tube forward) and remove the crank. then decide how far out to space it, then get some 3/4 or 1" conduit and bend it into a horseshoe like shape for the desired width . Make two pieces and weld them to the triangles of both bikes upper and lower . Then you will need to configure the chair and cross brace as needed, careful as to placement ( so your foot don't come in contact) This my rough overview ,but i'm inspired to make one myself for the heck of it. P.S. alignment will be crucial. Hope this helps.
