Jake the Snake

Hi,

I was looking into buying a Jake the Snake and may have sourced one at a pretty reasonable price. What i was wondering though is, is there much difference between the earlier models (1998-2001) compared to the more recent (2002-2004). I ask because i think i can get a second hand Jake the Snake but i'm pretty sure it is an earlier model.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,
try and take it to a bike shop that sells Kona; any bike shop will do in a pinch. They can tell you both what shape it's in, and how old it is.

I did a bit of a research on a 2000 Jake The Snake just this last week...
and for any specs I could not find on KONA website (under TECH AREA) I went to EPINIONS or just e-mailed them at tech@konaworld.com !
Also, ROADBIKEREVIEW gives you an idea on how riders like the bike!

I had a 2001 jake the snake and loved it. some of the components have changed but are of equal quality. I personally like the paint schemes on the earlier jakes. mine was silver and black with the hawaiian theme lettering. if you can get a good deal on any jake bike dont hesitate. they are very fun and fast. better than most aluminum frame cross bikes.

the frame is only easton ultralite from 2002 on. prior to that, it was generic kona 7005 aluminum. the 2001 jts was mostly sora components; they were mostly 105 in 2000... before that, i can't remember...
