Had a fun mini tour this weekend

A couple of buddies and I did a short, two-day, 145 mile tour this weekend. We did 95-100 miles the first day over mud, gravel and chipseal, then a slow scenic 45 mile loop the next day. It was a blast. Here are some of pics:

We rode from my house 7 miles to the next little town for breakfast and then headed out from there:

We ended up doing 30+ miles on lost gravel roads:

Pee stop/photo op along the way:

Random dive bar we stopped in for lunch. The day drunks at the far end kept us entertained:

Crossing a lake after lunch:

A cool old bridge we stopped at in the destination town:

It was a good, short trip. First centuries for the other two riders. Tough, first, muddy gravel, self-supported centuries at that.

We started in Waxahachie then Maypearl, Itasca, Whitney, Clifton, Meridian, Cranfils Gap, etc.

Any good touring loops/routes out that way?

Sweet! Haven't done any touring loops yet, but I am looking to start and maybe this Memorial Day weekend. I have tossed around a few ideas of maybe going from State Park to State Park...Tawokani, Purtis Creek, Tyler ect.

If the forecast improves, we are planning to do a 3-day tour this weekend in Southern OK. Really hoping it pans out.

Looks like a great trip! I'm live in Waco and have been wanting to head out that way to do some mini-touring myself.

We did a tour in November that was Waxahachie to Waco to Clifton to Glen Rose and back. It was a blast.

Some friends of mine do a tour from Waco to Gatesville to Valley Mills and back.

Everything from Valley Mills to Glen Rose is a nice ride with Clifton having some of the best.
