Help ID my bike
Hi,
Please, can anyone ID my bike?
I bought it last week in Belgium.
The color was purple (original blue).
I want to restore it but I don't know the brand of the bike.
I know that it is an very old bike (late 50's or early 60's).
There is an oil port in the bottom bracket.
Tubing is 26,4 I guess.
The bracket cup is 1.370x24
On the fork was written ; C47 or CA7
This serial is on the bottom bracket: 5473A , than a B, and 83
see pics

Not ringing any bells yet, except it's obviously a nice vintage frame. The fork crown looks like a standard Vagner pattern, the headlugs will probably clue somebody (they might be Oscar Egg or EKLA, I can't be sure). Probably a Brit or possibly a Dutch-made frame...I'd vote "Brit" for now.
How about a close-up of the rear drop-outs?

Thank you for your reaction,
the fork crown looks like a Vagner no12 (thanks !!!).
Can it be a Claud Butler bike??

Dunno, doesn't ring any bells with Claud Butler for me...also those aren't typical Oscar Egg lugs either, and even less like EKLA, but the era is right for either brand... just not connecting at this point. The lugs are very familiar...I'm sure somebody will nail it!

C47 sounds like it could be a Bertin model designation, although I can't actually find any evidence of one right now. Have a look here, see if you recognize any details.

non-fixie -> It is not a Bertin, I had contact with Jim of the site of your link. He told me it's not a Bertin.

Sorry I can't be of more help. If it's British Hillary Stone might be able to help. Here's his website. His collection of frames is worth a look anyway.

You might try joining the CR List (a Google Group) and sending those guys these pics and maybe the link to this thread. Hillary Stone is fairly frequently on that list as are some other very expert vintage bike identifiers, such as Norris Lockley and Mick Butler...and those are just a few of the UK members, there are some based in the US, too.
I bet somebody there could help...
