Important Changes at Groody Bros. Bicycle Restoration
Dear Valued Customers,
After much consideration, being the single employee and owner of Groody Bros. Bicycle Restoration, I have decided to transition into semi-retirement. This change means that I will be focusing primarily on the core business competencies, media blasting and powder coating bicycle frames and forks. These are the services I am passionate about and have always been at the heart of the business.
What Does This Mean for You?
Assembly and Disassembly: For all bicycle assembly and disassembly needs, I recommend reaching out to your local bike shop. They have the expertise and tools to ensure your bicycle is properly assembled and serviced.
Decal Application: I will no longer be offering water slide decal application. However, we are open to considering other decal applications on a case-by-case basis.
Full Restorations: Full restorations will now be limited and strictly considered on a case-by-case basis. While I love bringing old bicycles back to life, these projects require significant time and energy, which I need to manage more efficiently.
Current Projects:
Rest assured, all current projects that are already in-house and initiated will be completed as agreed. Your trust and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we are committed to delivering the quality service you expect.
I understand that these changes may raise questions or concerns. Please know that I am here to address any inquiries you may have and assist you through this transition.
I appreciate your understanding and continued support as I begin this new chapter. I am grateful for the trust you have placed in Groody Bros. Bicycle Restoration over the years and look forward to serving you in this new capacity.

ah bummer! Groody Bros does excellent work at an unbeatable price. Mark restored two frames for me, decal application and everything. His communication was top notch, and the work was very good. I'm not surprised to hear about the scaling-back of his business, however. Every frame painting company I discover seems to fall into one of three buckets: insanely expensive (like $3K for a restoration), affordable and just got into the business, or affordable and in the process of exiting the business.

I've had several frames powder coated at Groody Brothers. Mark's a great guy to work with.

Well dang, I just wrote Mark about a project I'd started discussing with him last fall. Hopefully my job will still fit into his plans as I can't find waterslide decals for it anyway.

Just got an email reply from Mark, he'll still be able to help with quality restores. He's just been getting too many Huffy grade bikes to powder coat, and the owners don't know how to strip the frame down and he ends up doing it. He'll also do most basic brazing, like bottle, shift and cable bosses. If you don't have a framebuilder and powder coater in your area, his prices are reasonable enough to do some add ons and powdercoat at his one stop shop.

I'm always surprised at the number of what I would categorize as nostalgia restorations he posts on his social media feed (Facebook is where I see it). Beautiful work on bikes that I might send straight to the recycler but whose owners obviously love them. It's kind of a shame to see one less person offering that service.

I think more and more we'll start seeing a lot of resources for vintage stuff age out. I have a feeling some of the people that run these operations out of pure passion are going to be very hard to replace.

Easier and quicker is beating slow and craftsman-like as time passes. Probably our own fault for wanting things that are time consuming and beautiful, to also be cheap.

Enjoyed working with him many years ago, remember dropping off my frame, he was just south of ATSF’s Argentine yard in west Kansas City, being an ATSF switchman, how cool was that?.

I just got an email from Mark about the project we were talking about last fall. He’s still onboard to do it and we have even sourced the decals. That made my day!
